Digestive enzymes are enzymes that break down polymeric macromolecules into their smaller building blocks, in order to facilitate their absorption by the body.

How are they used in the body?

Digestive enzymes are responsible for the breaking down of foods into nutrients and waste.  If our foods are not digested properly, our bodies cannot absorb the nutrients.  This is when one may start experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms such as bloating and nutrient deficiencies.
